Prof. Dr. Eugen B. Hug

Prof. Dr. Eugen B. Hug is a distinguished leader in Radiation Oncology, currently serving as the Medical Director and Co-Managing Director at the MedAustron Ion Therapy Center in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. His career, commencing in the early 1990s after completing his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, has been dedicated to advancing and implementing Particle Therapy across a spectrum of diseases. He holds a profound expertise in pediatric malignancies, skull base tumors, and sarcomas, leveraging his extensive experience in proton-radiation therapy.

Professional Journey in Particle Therapy

Dr. Hug’s impactful career includes significant leadership roles in the field of particle therapy. He previously served as the Director of the Paul Scherrer Proton Institute in Switzerland, where he also held the esteemed position of Professor of Proton-Radiation at the University of Zurich. His contributions extended to Dartmouth Medical School as a Professor of Radiation Oncology and Pediatrics, and he held the role of Chief Medical Officer for ProCure, overseeing four proton centers in the United States. Earlier in his career, he was an Associate Professor at Loma Linda University Medical Center and a Staff Member and Lead in Pediatric Radiation Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
