Professional Experience

Dr. Alper Kaya brings over two decades of specialized experience in Orthopedics and Traumatology to patient care. His career journey includes significant roles within leading medical institutions. From 2012 onwards, he has been a valued member of the Acıbadem Health Group. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Ufuk University Faculty of Medicine from 2007 to 2011. His commitment to advancing surgical techniques led him to a Visiting Research Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Division of Sports Medicine, focusing on Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, in 2008. Dr. Kaya also served as a Specialist Doctor at Ufuk University Faculty of Medicine from 2006 to 2007, following his tenure as a Specialist Doctor at Etimesgut State Hospital from 2003 to 2006. His early career included service as a Medical Lieutenant at TSK Iskenderun Naval Hospital from 2004 to 2005, and he began his medical career as a Research Assistant in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine from 1998 to 2003.

Education

Dr. Alper Kaya’s academic foundation is built upon distinguished medical training. He achieved the title of Associate Professor at Ufuk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, in 2011, following his role as an Assistant Professor in the same department from 2007. His residency training in Orthopedics and Traumatology was completed at BaÅŸkent University Faculty of Medicine in 2003. He earned his medical degree from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1997.

His publications cover critical areas within orthopedics, including knee surgery, sports traumatology, arthroscopy, spinal surgery, and bone grafting techniques. Notable works include his nineteen-year follow-up study on lyophised medial meniscus transplantations in ACL deficient knees, published in Knee Surgery Sports Traumatology and Arthroscopy. He has also authored research on patellofemoral problems in total knee arthroplasty, pin and plate fixation in complex distal humerus fractures, and the effect of periosteum on bone graft union. Dr. Kaya has contributed to understanding thoracolumbar spine fractures, meniscus histology in osteoarthritic knees, and the incidence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children with musculoskeletal traumas, demonstrating a breadth of expertise across various orthopedic subspecialties.
