Professional Experience

Dr. Guralp Onur Ceyhan brings over two decades of distinguished experience in General Surgery, with a highly specialized focus on the complex treatment of Pancreas, Liver, and Biliary Tract Diseases. His career journey showcases a profound commitment to advancing surgical techniques and patient care in these critical areas.

From 2014 to 2018, Dr. Ceyhan held significant leadership roles at the Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technical University of Munich, Germany. He served as the Second Ordinary Professor, Head of the Department of Liver-Biliary Tract and Pancreas Unit, and Director of the Pancreas Research Center. During this time, he also led the Pancreatic neuropathy and pain unit, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to pancreatic diseases.

His expertise was further honed through an esteemed visiting position at the Liver-Biliary Tract and Pancreas Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, USA, in 2013. Prior to his extensive work in Munich, Dr. Ceyhan was actively involved in research at the European Pancreas Research Center/Center for Pancreatic Molecular Biology and Surgery and the Department of General Surgery at the University of Heidelberg, Germany (2002-2007). His early research also focused on pancreatic diseases at the Westfaelische Wilhelms University Münster (1999-2002).

In 2019, Dr. Ceyhan assumed the pivotal role of Department Head for the Liver-Biliary Tract and Pancreas Unit at Acıbadem Healthcare Group. Concurrently, he was appointed Director of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Center at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, Istanbul, Türkiye. Since 2020, he continues to contribute his advanced surgical skills to the Acıbadem Health Group.

Education

Dr. Ceyhan’s foundational medical education was completed at the Faculty of Medicine, Westfalische Wilhelms University, in 2002. He further specialized in General Surgery, with his advanced training and academic achievements rooted in Germany. He completed his residency at the Department of General Surgery, Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technical University of Munich, Germany (2007-2008), and obtained further specialization in 2016 at the same institution.
