His journey in plastic surgery spans over two decades, marked by rigorous training and practice across multiple continents, solidifying his position as a leading figure in the field.

Professional Experience

Dr. Agir brings a wealth of experience from prominent institutions worldwide. Since 2020, he has been a key member of the Acıbadem Health Group, contributing his advanced surgical skills. Prior to this, he served as a Consultant Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Wellington Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery and Hamilton Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery in New Zealand from 2011 to 2012. His tenure at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine from 2006 to 2011, and later from 2012 to 2016, further honed his academic and clinical acumen in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery. His earlier career included valuable fellowships in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery at the Craniofacial Centre in Adelaide, Australia (2000-2001), and in Cleft Lip-Palate and Jaw Surgery at Taiwan CG Memorial Hospital (2006). He also completed a subspecialty in Head-Neck and Oral-Facial-Maxillofacial Surgery in New Zealand (2004-2005). His early surgical training included Plastic Surgery at Diyarbakir Military Hospital (1997-1998).

He completed his initial Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery training at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine between 1991 and 1997. His pursuit of specialized knowledge led him to advanced training and fellowships internationally. He obtained specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery through the Medical Specialization Board Decision in 2013, following extensive training. Notably, he was accredited as a Plastic Surgeon by the New Zealand Medical Council in 2012. His expertise in complex reconstructive procedures is underscored by his achievement of the European Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist Examination (FEBOPRAS) in 2009. His academic career includes positions as Associate Professor at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine in 2007 and Professor in 2015. He also undertook further specialized training in Denmark at the Department of Plastic Surgery, Rigshospital, University of Copenhagen in 1996.

Notable publications include work on the use of acellular dermal matrix in cleft palate repair, primary treatment timing for cleft lip, and case reports on rare pediatric conditions like Fourniers gangrene. He has also published on complex reconstructive challenges, such as managing Li-Fraumeni syndrome with sequential free flaps and using distally based posterior interosseous flaps for hand reconstruction. His research also delves into microvascular techniques, including a simple and reliable diamond technique for microvascular anastomosis, and analyses of fracture patterns in mandibular fractures.
