Professional Experience

Dr. Koray Ozduman brings extensive experience to the field of Neurosurgery, with a career marked by significant contributions to research and patient care. His professional journey includes a notable tenure at Acıbadem Health Group starting in 2020, following key leadership and fellowship roles. He served as the Chief of Neurosurgery Clinic at Gumussuyu Military Hospital from 2007 to 2008. Prior to this, he honed his skills and conducted advanced research during fellowships at Yale University’s Neurosurgery Department, focusing on Neuro-Oncology from 2005 to 2007, and a general fellowship from 2002 to 2003. His global perspective was further broadened by an observer position in the Department of Neurosurgery at Matsumoto University, Japan, from 2000 to 2002, and foundational molecular biology education at Yale University’s Boyer Institute for Molecular Medicine from 1999 to 2000.

Education

Dr. Ozduman’s academic foundation is robust, beginning with his graduation from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1998. He furthered his specialization at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, completing his studies in the Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery in 2005. His commitment to advancing medical knowledge is underscored by his Assistant Professor position at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine, which he attained in 2009. Earlier in his educational path, he completed his studies at Austrian High School in 1992.

Dr. Ozduman is an accomplished researcher with a substantial publication record in prominent neurosurgical and neuroscience journals. His work spans critical areas of neurosurgery, including tumor biology, surgical techniques, and molecular mechanisms within the nervous system. Notable contributions include research on skull-base chordomas, anterior clinoidal meningiomas, and the application of advanced imaging in glioma resection, such as his work on “3-T ultrahigh-field intraoperative MRI for low-grade glioma resection” and “First intraoperative, shared-resource, ultrahigh-field 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging system and its application in low-grade glioma resection.” He has also explored innovative viral strategies for studying and treating brain conditions, as seen in publications like “Systemic vesicular stomatitis virus selectively destroys multifocal glioma and metastatic carcinoma in brain” and “Viral strategies for studying the brain.” His research interests also extend to vascular development in the retina and cytomegalovirus interactions in the brain.
