Dr. VILDAN ERTEKIN
Professional Experience
Dr. Vildan Ertekin brings over two decades of dedicated experience in the field of Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology. Her career includes significant academic leadership, serving as Head of the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. Prior to this, she held the position of Associate Professor and Head of the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Science Department at Ataturk University Faculty of Medicine. She has also been a contributing faculty member at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine since 2013. Her clinical practice has also been a part of the esteemed Acıbadem Health Group.
Education and Academic Journey
Dr. Ertekin’s robust academic foundation includes her professorship at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, attained in 2013. Her journey in academia began at Ataturk University Faculty of Medicine, where she rose through the ranks, becoming an Associate Professor in 2007 and an Assistant Professor from 2002 to 2007 in the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. She completed her specialization in Pediatric Gastroenterology in 2005 and her core training in Child Health and Diseases in 2001 at Ataturk University Faculty of Medicine. Her medical degree was earned from Anadolu University Faculty of Medicine in 1993, followed by her research assistantship in Child Health and Diseases at Ataturk University from 1996 to 2001.

Her published works include studies on the screening of celiac disease in children with alopecia areata, hepatoportal sclerosis in childhood, and findings from percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy procedures. She has also authored research on infantile colic, the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune hepatitis in children, and nutrition in functional bowel diseases. Further contributions cover celiac disease evaluation in children, psychiatric aspects of familial Mediterranean fever in pediatric patients, and epidemiological factors affecting hepatitis A seroprevalence in childhood.
